Rain causes flooding in Antalya

Two hours of rain in the southern city of Antalya caused flooding in the poorer districts of the city, causing homes and some shops to be inundated by water.
The residents of Yeşildere accused the municipality of failing to take adequate precautions for the winter and rain. Some said the floods occurred only because the sewer system couldn't cope with excess water and that if no precautions were taken, more would follow.
Yeşildere Muhtar Hasan Hakikat said 50 homes were flooded in their district, causing serious damage.
Meanwhile, the local meteorology bureau issued a warning calling on people to be prepared for the heavy rain and strong winds that are expected to buffet the Mediterranean region until tomorrow.
Fishermen were also warned to beware of storms at sea.
Cold weather to dominate the country:
The State Meteorological Institute said on Monday the entire country would be drenched by rainy weather in the next few days, with precautions advised in Turkey's south, north and north west. The rain will move towards the east on Thursday and then pass out of the country; however, a new cold front will enter from the west late on Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to fall considerably this week, with the institute advising people to beware of floods.
